Milestone - First Chapter Book
Up to this point your child has been reading books with pictures and a few sentences, but as your student becomes a more fluent reader, he/she will begin to read chapter books. This usually happens sometime during first or second grade. This is a huge milestone in every child's life. They will read stories written by authors with different points of view, and they will begin to discover empathy. This is a first step to understanding others and other cultures.
This is a great time for your student to begin to really understand the narratives from the Bible. It’s also a great time to get them their own Bible. We suggest the New International Readers Version (or NIrV). The books of Mark, Acts, Genesis and Exodus are good books to start with. The stories found there will give kids context for Jesus, as well as the majority of the biblical narratives.
